Word Sprint: Scrabble-style speed practice
Race along a 48-tile track. Good words buy you more time.
Reach the finish line
Press Start sprint to begin with 90 seconds. Make words of two or more letters from the seven tiles in your rack. Each letter can be used only as many times as it appears. Accepted words fill the next cells of the track from left to right. You win when you have played at least 48 tiles. Your last word may pass the finish line.
Where the time comes from
- A valid word adds 2 seconds for every letter used.
- Completing each eight-cell row adds another 5 seconds.
- The clock is capped at 120 seconds.
- Skip rack gives new letters and costs 8 seconds and 5 points. The score cannot fall below zero.
After a valid word, all seven rack letters are replaced. The next rack always has at least one accepted word. The clock continues when you switch tabs or reload. Untimed practice uses the same scoring rules without a countdown and does not update your timed best.
Letter values, premiums and a quick series
Letters use the values shown on their tiles. A 2L or 3L square multiplies its new letter. A 2W square doubles the word. If the same word covers two 2W squares, both multipliers apply. Cells beyond the finish line have no premium.
- Using all seven rack tiles in one word adds 10 points.
- A word entered within 8 seconds of your previous accepted word adds 3 points.
- A successful timed run adds one point for each whole second remaining.
CAT on ordinary cells is 3 + 1 + 1 = 5. Put its C on 2L and the word is 6 + 1 + 1 = 8. If that word also covers 2W, it becomes 16, before any series bonus.
Review your own racks
At the end, the review returns to the racks you actually received. It shows longer alternatives available from those letters, without treating them as the best scoring move for every position. Shuffle is free. An invalid word gives no points or extra time; the clock keeps running.
Daily uses the same rack sequence for everyone on the same UTC date. Replay resets that run. This is our independent speed game, inspired by the solo format often called Scrabble Sprint.
